JIA

"JIA is a celebration of coming home, evoking the liveliness of our childhood’s HDB corridors. Highly modular and adaptable, soft and warm to the touch, the JIA elements can become as simple or as intricate of a system as your space can afford.

Seat pads can become notice boards, seat legs can become umbrella stands, potted plant pedestals or even shoe racks. The versatility of its components make it an exquisitely designed object with a touch of local vintage and contemporary craftsmanship, ideal for all living spaces.

JIA is just another way of saying home."

Jia is a Bronze Medalist at the 2017 D'Star Design Awards

Publicworks was started back in 2012 in a small attic in Princeton, New Jersey by two M.Arch graduates of Princeton University School of Architecture: Razvan GHILIC-MICU and Jia Xin CHUM

Initially dubbed Rx co-lab, reflecting the “co”-creative authorship of each project and “lab” environment of the design process – where each idea gets dissected and examined before being applied, we have graduated to a new mission statement in 2017: design as a transformative social and cultural public agent, hence: Publicworks.

While we both continue to grow individually and professionally in established organisations, we come together to design, collaborate, debate, instigate, curate and educate on all matters design.
